Personal fashion stylist & shopper

FAQs

1. What are the benefits of using a personal stylist?

There are many ways a personal fashion stylist can help. Perhaps your body has changed and you need to dress to best suit your new shape. Or your lifestyle has changed and you need a more relevant and suitable wardrobe to suit but aren't sure where to start.

Perhaps you find shopping overwhelming and frustrating with too many choices, yet nothing purchased after many hours of browsing.  Maybe you need help with sorting your wardrobe, making the most of what you have, or learning how to put everything together into cohesive outfits that work.

Or maybe you simply just don't have time to spend hours in the shops and need someone to make the process more efficient.

Whatever the reason, having someone who is objective with an expert eye looking at your wardrobe and / or shopping with you can make all the difference!

2. What should I look for when selecting a personal stylist?

There are many stylists and personal shoppers out there so the choice can be overwhelming! When shopping around for a stylist, ask what formal training they have received, how long they have been in operation for and how many clients they have seen. At Smitten With Style we have helped over 600 women and men in the five years we have been operating. In fact, many stylists in the industry have been trained by Smitten's own Training Academy, making us the stylist that other stylists learn from!!

All of the stylists at Smitten have been formally trained by our Head Stylist and as part of their training, have recorded a minimum 100 hours of hands-on training, and must receive 100% positive feedback from their training before they are allowed to join the Smitten With Style team. This is our assurance to you that we maintain a standard of service excellence and quality.

3. Should I start with a wardrobe consultation first before I take on a shopping trip?

While we have many clients who utilise just our shopping trips, wardrobe consultations can be extremely useful for those who need an expert opinion on what to toss, keep, give away or alter, especially those who have lots of clothes yet "nothing" to wear!

A personal fashion stylist can help you simplify your wardrobe by eliminating all the things that do not work, and identifying the new items that best suit your needs, body shape, budget and lifestyle.

Wardrobe consultations can also give you new ideas on how to maximise your current wardrobe by creating new combinations, so for the price of around two tops, you could find many more new outfits from your existing wardrobe - all it takes is a stylist with a new perspective to view your wardrobe in a whole new light!

Finally, a wardrobe consultation is especially helpful for your stylist to understand your current style, and to identify what clothing gaps exist, which then guides your Smart Style Shopping Trip.

Ultimately our goal is to give you "Wardrobes That Work"!

4. I wish to update my look, but I don't want to dress or look not "me" or my age. Can you help?

Absolutely. At Smitten With Style we firmly believe in dressing you to reflect your own personality and style. We don't impose our personal tastes on you - that's critical to know. We shop with you in a collaborative manner, and don't dress you to look age inappropriate or like someone you don't recognise. We aim to enhance you, not change you.  All of our stylists have plenty of experience working with women and men of all ages (and shapes and sizes!).

5. What is the average age of your clients?

Smitten With Style have had the pleasure of working with many clients of various age groups and backgrounds, with different goals. Our clients have ranged from 16 to 79 year olds, and everyone in between! Whether you are time-poor, unsure about fashion, need an independent, expert opinion or just looking for a fun day out, we can help.

6. Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes. Gift vouchers are beautifully presented and valid for 6 months. The recipient will be given all the details of what service has been purchased for them, and just needs to contact us to organise an appointment time.

7. What forms of payment do you accept?

We do require upfront payment for new clients, and accept cash, personal cheque or bank transfer. Credit cards are accepted via Paypal or over the phone (phone transactions incur a surcharge of 5% merchant bank fee). For new clients, payment for your appointment is required at least one week prior to your appointment unless you wish to settle the amount by cash, which you may do so on the day of your appointment.

8. I work during the week, do you offer weekend appointments?

Yes. Smitten With Style offers weekend appointments on both Saturday and Sunday, and some Thursday late night shopping by prior arrangement.

9. Are you available for appointments any day of the week?

Yes we are!

10. Who will my stylist be? What is the difference between a Head Stylist, Senior Stylist and Stylist?

Smitten With Style is comprised of five very senior personal fashion stylists.

Wendy (Head Stylist) has owned the business and helped women and men for over 5 years.

Gemma Redhouse and Bridgette Kirk are our Senior Stylists, also with at least 5 years styling experience under their belt, and many more within the general fashion industry.

Clare O'Hara and Jenny Kelly are our Stylists with at least 2 years styling experience under their belt, and again, many more in fashion.

When you first contact us to make an enquiry or book an appointment, you will deal directly and only with our Head Stylist and Owner, Wendy. Wendy will discuss your needs and goals with you, and then personally match you to the right stylist FOR YOU. Having choice within an  experienced team of stylists available means that no matter who you are or what you are looking to achieve, we have the right stylist within your budget to help you look fabulous.

11. How far in advance do I need to book?

Our appointments can book out quite quickly especially for weekend appointments. For that reason we recommend you contact us for availability and to book as far in advance as you are able.
